Deputy Consul General in Shanghai hosts visa session for Chinese travel agencies

On Tuesday March 12 Mr Mogens Pedersen, Deputy Consul General in Shanghai, invited 20 Chinese travel agencies accredited to the Royal Danish Consulate General Shanghai to celebrate their partnership.

The informal session was a manifestation of the continuing effort to improve the visa handling and service of the visa section at the Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai. For Deputy Consul Mogens Pedersen this was also an opportunity to hear suggestions from the Chinese travel agencies as to how the consulate could make to visa application process even more efficient.

“I would like to stress that the Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai is here to help the travel agencies, not to set up obstacles for their work. Of course it goes without saying that it will benefit both parties to increase the number of Chinese tourists going to Denmark” Deputy Consul Pedersen said.

The Chinese travel agencies showed great interest contributing to the discussion. Specific topics within the visa application process were discussed. Formerly there was a limit to the number of applications that travel agencies could submit each day. This rule is no longer in use, which was clarified during the session. Another important part of the day’s session was to assure the travel agencies that the visa section at the Consulate General is more than capable of processing the increasing number of applications during the peak season from April till September.

This session will be followed by two seminars in April where the Consulate General will invite all the Chinese travel agencies arranging outbound trips in order to make known to the travel agencies how to get accredited to the special scheme “Approved Destination Status(ADS)” that makes it easier to submit visa applications for larger groups to the Schengen countries.
