6 Truths from 2006 - The Search for a Post-Financial Crisis Paradigm for Globalization and Interaction with China.

By Tim Mondorf, Business Development Director, Nordics at AT&T

'Globalization is a win-win'. 'We need to re-write the textbooks on Economics'. 'When the others are cheaper, we must be better'. 'China has no soft power'. Statements like these were representative of how both companies and policy makers saw the challenges of globalization only a few years ago.

While the financial crises has seriously challenged this view, a new paradigm has yet to emerge. In the presentation, it is discussed how the view of global competition has evolved, exemplified i.a. by a comparative discussion of the 2006 report from the Danish Government Globalization Council and the 2011 report from the government's Growth Forum.

The view of interaction with China evolves correspondingly as China has taken on a new full foreign relations portfolio in the economic realm. Chinese companies also position themselves differently on world markets.

Tim Mondorf teaches International Trade and Investment at Copenhagen University and works for a global technology company.
