2403 English-Chinese translator for part-time position

Our Technology Division works primarily on the design, delivery and installation of plants worldwide. We have a total staff of approximately 350 employees, mainly engineers, working closely with the company’s other divisions and offices abroad. Our everyday work is characterised by a positive working climate, and the tone is informal and humorous. The Mechanical Department, Environmental comprises 20 staff – technical designers, technicians and engineers, all working on our environmental plants. You will play a key role in the extensive documentation of our plants and, working closely with our engineers, you will help to ensure that our documentation is correctly translated and satisfies our documentation requirements. Translation will be undertaken in the original documents; we primarily use the Office package, AutoCAD, Mechanical Intergraph Smartplant and SmartSketch. Your responsibilities • translation of technical project documentation from English into Chinese • working between 10 and 20 hours weekly, with flexible planning • assistance to our other departments You • are good at communicating with others • are flexible regarding the planning of your weekly hours • are thorough, systematic and quality conscious • are able to work to tight deadlines Qualifications Your educational background is of secondary importance; you are possibly a student with the necessary technical insight. You speak and read English and Chinese fluently, and have documented experience of technical translation. You are thoroughly familiar with the Office package and are preferably also familiar with the other programs – although this is not a requirement.
