From 28th of April to the 30th of April the Danish Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Mr. Friis Arne Petersen, was in Mongolia, where he attended the 7th Ministerial Meeting of Community of Democracies and met with several high level Mongolian officials and politicians.
The 7th Ministerial meeting of the Community of Democracies is a global conference that is devoted to strengthen democracy and civil society. Representatives from approximately 110 countries including heads of government, foreign ministers, parliamentarians, civil society leaders, and Nobel laureates Aung San Suu Kyi and Tawakkol Karman attended the conference. Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen represented Denmark at the conference.
During his visit to Mongolia, the Ambassador also had meetings with the Vice Minister of Energy in Mongolia, Mr. Dorpjpurev Dulamsuren and Mayor Mr. Erdeniin Bat-Üül about Danish-Mongolian bilateral relations as well bilateral cooperation on issues such as sustainable energy solutions including waste water treatment and district heating.
Denmark established diplomatic relations with Mongolia in 1968, and this year the two countries are celebrating the 45th year of establishment of diplomatic ties.
Earlier this year the Danish parliament presidium was on an official visit to Mongolia with speaker Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, where they met with the President of Mongolia, Mr. Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj.
