As part of the Europe, Middle East and CIS Regional Office Procurement Team and under the direct supervision of the Procurement Associate and/or the Project Support Associate, the incumbent is responsible for various tasks related to procurement support for the department, business development, and other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis of relevant market areas, supplier information, and product specifications.
• Analyze process flows and propose improvements to SOPs within the region.
• Assist with drafting proposals, developing specifications, and evaluating procurement bid solicitations.
• Help develop theoretical and practical framework of various procurement initiatives.
• Help expedite the review and approval of requests and documents from Operation Centres.
• Actively assist developing and building the organizational and knowledge capacity of the EMO Procurement department.
• Actively support the enhancement of the EMO Procurement Intranet site and user experience.
• Develop an overview of EMO Procurement and regional projects.
• Actively work towards self-development through exposure to work and absorption of different experiences; participate in various training programs available online and/or at the duty station;
• Under the direction of the Procurement Associate, extract and filter information on potential business opportunities from various sources (trade magazine, newspapers, websites of other UN agencies, International Financial Institutions, National Governments, etc.) for provision of procurement services in support of programs around UNDAF, MDG and implementation of UN Reform.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Procurement Associate and Project Support Associate.

Education/Experience/Language

• Currently enrolled or recently completed a secondary university degree program, preferably in the field of business administration, public administration or programme management;
• Minimum 1-2 years experience working in business administration and/or procurement;
• Good working knowledge of MS Office applications;
• Good working knowledge of Sharepoint is desirable;
• Experience with ERP/Peoplesoft is desirable;
• Fluency in written/oral English required; knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.

Interns at UNOPS do not receive any remuneration. As such, interns are responsible for all costs associated with the internship, including but not limited to costs for insurance coverage, travel and accommodation. Evidence of private health insurance is required prior to appointment.

Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and securing any necessary visas.

Flexible working schedules may be arranged.

The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.
