Department
Group Government Relations (GGR) in Copenhagen will from 1. June 2010 have an open position as Market Access Specialist. GGR is headed by an SVP and has four teams, each headed by a Director referring directly to the head of GGR. The Market Access Specialist will refer to the Director of one of the four Teams in the Department.
Group Government Relations is a corporate level function with direct reference to the CEO. GGR is responsible for Vestas´ external political and regulatory relations and works in close cooperation with local Vestas Government Relations Departments around the world. GGR delivers policy and regulatory recommendations and provides detailed insights to governments and other key stakeholders world-wide to assist them in ensuring their regulatory and planning frameworks are fit for a modern energy future.
Responsibilities and Tasks
The Market Access Specialist is a new position being created to fill an existing need in GGR. The person filling this role will support the development of and drive Vestas global market access strategy. He/she will keep day-to-day contact with relevant international bodies and industry alliances, such as the European Commission, Danish Ministries, WTO, GWEC, EWEA, DI, Trade Chambers etc. He/She will effectively develop and communicate political messaging to Vestas external political partners.
Specific tasks include:
- Supporting the development of and implement Vestas global trade policy & market access strategies
- Supporting Vestas Sales Business units in mitigating global trade concerns & issues
- Support Vestas corporate strategy in new and emerging markets
- Promote and support coalition building in relevant industry alliances/informal business networks
- Establish monitoring system/network for keeping updated on trade policy development in the wind energy sector globally
- Contribute to developing/designing political/policy and communications campaigns/materials, including position papers, briefing memos, and other products to be used for policy advocacy and other communications purposes
- Contribute to positioning Vestas and wind power towards political and other stakeholders to strengthen Vestas´ brand and reputation
- Networking and representing Vestas at conferences, associations, and other relevant external forums
- Develop and provide regulatory support and counselling to Vestas´ Business Units and Executive Management
- Coordinate and host incoming political VIP delegations
Qualifications and Work Experience
- Academic degree in politics, business or related field
- Superior written and verbal communications skills in English (additional languages highly desirable)
- Excellent negotiation and political persuasion skills
- Strong conceptual thinking with the ability to creatively convert new (or existing) information/analyses into relevant policy-related messages and communications products
- Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to partner with others and deal with multiple priorities and differing points of view in a challenging, fast-paced environment
- Good business acumen - ability to link Government Relations activities with business goals in an efficient way.
- High level of cross-cultural sensitivity
- Ability to present yourself professionally and confidently in large groups.
- Min. five years professional experience in positions requiring above mentioned skills with preference to experience in the wind or energy sector
What we offer
The Market Access Specialist will form part of a dynamic and cross-cultural team that acts as internal and external ambassador for the GGR corporate staff function and works globally across the complete Vestas value chain. It is a fast-paced and high-exposure position that requires continuous interaction with internal and external stakeholders. Being part of Group Staff, Group Executive Management is a primary internal stakeholder for GGR staff members. Travel required.
