DENMARK CARBON EMISSION ROLE MODEL ACCORDING TO CHINESE MAYORS

Recent survey concludes that Chinese Mayors see Denmark as a role model when it comes to low-carbon cities. Sino-Danish collaboration based on the Green China concept is increasing.



Two out of three Chinese City Mayors see the Danish pattern of low-carbon cities as the most successful one. This conclusion is reached by the newspaper Nanfang Zhoumo after conducting a survey, asking 20 Mayors from all over China, who also participated in the recent NPC Congress. In line with this conclusion, the Danish concept “Green China” is experiencing increasing interest from Chinese companies and local authorities.

Green China concept is a toolkit for Chinese City Councils
Green China is an energy and environment concept from the Danish Embassy in Beijing that aims to facilitate and develop cooperation between Danish companies in China and Chinese City Councils and businesses.

The transfer of Danish technology and knowledge is made possible by 13 Danish companies who made the Danish model possible many years ago in Denmark. This knowledge is now offered as a toolkit to assist Chinese City Councils in realising Government goals on higher energy efficiency, low carbon emissions and higher emphasis on renewable energy sources.

Green China is a platform for cooperation between Danish and Chinese companies
“More and more Chinese Mayors recognize the Green China Project, and Danish companies are experiencing that an increasing number of Chinese institutions and companies are interested in cooperating with Danish companies that are part of Green China”, says Commercial Counsellor at the Danish Embassy, Mr. Henrik Martens, following yesterday’s quarterly Green China Steering Committee Meeting.

“The Green China concept is a unique platform for cooperation in the energy sector in China and we are pleased to see that many Chinese companies consider cooperation with Green China a seal of quality. Many projects developed within the Green China concept are turning into fruitful business collaborations”, Mr. Martens added.

Chinese climate change expert attends Committee Meeting
The meeting was hosted by Denmark’s Ambassador to China, Mr. Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen. Present was also Mr. Pan Jiahua, Deputy Director, Research Centre for Urban & Environmental Studies at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Member of National Expert Panel on Climate Change.
Mr. Pan, who is highly respected for his research in sustainable development and climate policy, gave a presentation on Low Carbon Economy Development in China. Also participating in the meeting was the Embassy’s Climate Officer, Mr. Christian Brix Møller.


Denmark and China are collaborating on renewable energy in several areas
Sino-Danish collaboration on renewable energy is growing rapidly at the moment as Denmark and China are both focusing on further use of renewable energy in the future.

Denmark is at the forefront when it comes to renewable energy and the two countries recently joined their efforts in the Renewable Energy Development Programme (RED). The aim of the RED programme is to apply Danish expertise in improving and optimizing energy institutions to the further development of an even more dynamic renewables sector in China.

低碳城市建设：以丹麦为榜样
近期一个关于低碳城市建设的调查显示，大多数接受调查的中国市长们认为丹麦是其建设低碳城市的榜样。中丹之间以“绿色中国”为基础的合作呈上升态势。



        两会期间，《南方周末》向来自中国各地的20位市长发放了一份有关低碳城市的调查问卷。调查结果显示，三分之二的市长认为丹麦模式是全球低碳城市建设中最为成功的模式。与此同时，丹麦的“绿色中国”概念正受到中国企业与地方政府越来越多的关注。

绿色中国概念是中国地方政府的工具箱

        致力于促进政府和企业之间的中丹合作，北京丹麦驻华大使馆提出了能源和环境方面的“绿色中国”概念。丹麦的成功模式主要依赖于国内13家企业的成熟技术与经验。将这13家丹麦企业的技术和经验引进中国，是帮助中国地方政府提高能源利用率、实现碳减排以及深化可再生能源开发的工具箱。

绿色中国概念是中丹企业的合作平台

        丹麦驻华使馆商务官员马海先生在昨天的绿色中国筹划指导委员会会议上指出，“伴随着中国市长们对绿色中国概念意识的加强，中国机构和企业与丹麦企业合作的兴趣和意愿也在逐步加强。这也是绿色中国的一个部分”。
        他还说：“在能源行业，绿色中国概念是一个独一无二的合作平台。我们很荣幸的看到越来越多的中国企业正考虑与丹方就此开展一系列的合作。许多以此为基础的项目都已经成为了富有成效的合作。”

中国气象专家出席会议

        此次会议由丹麦驻华大使叶普主持。中国社科院城市环境研究所副所长﹑国家气候变化专家委员会委员潘家华应邀出席并就中国低碳经济发展发言，潘家华在可持续发展与气候政策方面的研究成果卓著。丹麦使馆气候变化官员墨克也出席此次会议。

中丹在可再生能源领域进行合作

        中国和丹麦政府均致力于可再生能源的深入发展，中丹在这方面的合作进展迅速。丹麦的可再生能源行业位于世界领先地位。两国在近期就“可再生能源发展计划（RED）”达成共识。该项计划致力于应用丹麦的专业知识以提高中国能源利用效率，并促进中国可再生能源行业的蓬勃发展。
