Be part of the largest Danish transport economics research environment and see your research used in the evaluation of transport taxation and infrastructure projects.

The Transport Economics Group
The basis for the research of the transport economics group is the application of economic principles to understand behaviour in transport systems and to analyse and evaluate consequences of political decisions within transport. The research is based on the principles of efficiency and distribution among population groups as well as geographically. Decision processes and implementation of decisions within transport are also part of the group’s research.

Besides research the group contributes to public sector consultancy under the Danish Ministry of Transport. In recent years the group has contributed to new values of time, valuation of travel time variability, long term forecasts, and the influence of taxes on car ownership and transport demand, measures for reducing CO2 emission from transport, improving the methodology for socioeconomic evaluations and many other projects.

The group includes 12 researchers ranging from Associate Professors to PhD students. The group cooperates both with the rest of DTU Transport and with Economics departments at other universities.

The present research areas of the group are
  • Demand modelling
  • Spatial economics
  • Welfare economics
  • Policy analysis
  • Organisation

Usually, each researcher covers 1 or 2 areas.
