1902 Country Coordinator for Uganda

As Country Coordinator you will support Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) at strategic and programme implementation level. Your role entails personnel management of one international staff member and recruitment, contracting and supervision of consultants. Additionally, donor relations, fundraising and networking in-country with relevant partners will be an important part of your daily work. You will report to Danish Red Cross’ Head of Region located in Uganda.Programme Management
Since the mid 80s Danish Red Cross has supported URCS within health programmes, prevention of natural disasters and mobilisation of young volunteers.
You will be overall responsible for all aspects of the programme cycle from identification of new project ideas, fundraising and formulation of all programmes to quality assurance and closing down of programmes in close cooperation with the URCS. As URCS is the implementing partner of all programmes, an important part of your work will be supporting the society in the planning and implementation while enhancing the society’s own capacity within programme management. You will be overall responsible for financial management of Danish Red Cross portfolio in the country. Depending on the situation and in agreement with the Head of Region the Country Coordinator may be assigned additional duties in one of the other partnership countries within the region.Profile
We expect that you have proven yourself a strong manager while at the same time being a team player with good listening skills. You are used to navigate in a multicultural setting - by heart a networker. Your programming experience within development stems from one or more developing countries and is combined with a relevant master degree. Red Cross experience will furthermore be an asset. You are used to having English as your working language, and you have excellent writing skills. Financial management experience is a requirement for this position.Employment Conditions
You will be based in Kampala which is categorised as a family duty station. It is envisaged that there will be 50 travel days in Uganda per year with additional travel days outside the country depending on the situation.
