New procedures for residence permits

After May 20th. 2012 Danish residence permit cards will contain an electronic chip with photo, fingerprints and signature recorded digitally as a security measure.
What does it mean?

1. Applicants must be prepared to have their photo, fingerprints and signature recorded when applying for residence permit
2. Applicants must make colour copies and put the documents in the application package in the proper order before submitting it.
3. If the application is approved by the Danish Immigration Service, the applicant will receive the residence permit and can then travel to Denmark. Here, the applicant must register at the local Municipality Office and within the next weeks the biometric residence card will be forwarded by postal mail to the applicant’s address in Denmark.

Applicants should be aware that there are different procedures at the Danish missions in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, so be sure to read about the procedures on this website and newtodenmark.dk before applying.
