On behalf of our client, Sartorius, we are looking for a dynamic and results-oriented area sales manager for process weighing and control equipment in the Copenhagen/Malmö region. Sartorius Mechatronics is part of the Sartorius Group, which is a leading international laboratory and process technology provider. In 2009, Sartorius Mechatronics earned sales revenue of more than 200 million Euros. The company was founded in 1870, and today it employs almost 2000 persons worldwide.

Mechatronics is number two worldwide in equipment and systems featuring weighing, measurement and automation technology for laboratory and industrial applications. The company has evolved from being a weighing technology specialist into an applications expert servicing customers in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food and beverage industries. Key areas are laboratory weighing, process analytics and product inspection technology.

Sartorius Nordic

Till now Mechatronics has distributed its products via dealers in the Nordic countries. However, from autumn 2010 decision has been made to benefit from a stronger presence in the market. It is therefore expected that the Nordic business will grow considerably in the years to come. The future Nordic organization will consist of some 15 people and be based in the Copenhagen area.

THE POSITION

The position reports to the UK process sales manager and cooperates regionally and internationally with colleagues within technical service, marketing and customer service. No staff will be reporting to the position.

You will work from your own home office. Geographically, the sales responsibility covers Denmark and Sweden but focus areas are Copenhagen and Malmö.

Primary target group will be Production Managers/Directors, Operations Directors, Chief Engineers and Project Engineers in the food & beverage, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Approx 80 % of sales will be related to new customers.

Key Responsibilities and Priorities:

  • customer meetings, product demonstrations and follow-up (80 % new business).
  • current planning and 3 months’ forecast.
  • look for and communicate sales leads and opportunities to other Sartorius business areas.
  • manage and proactively develop targeted accounts within your territory.
  • research and feedback market intelligence to appropriate business areas.
  • maintain product and industry knowledge by proactive research at all times.
  • attend sales and product training meetings (may occasionally involve weekends and nights away from home).
  • Performance will be measured on order intake and profit, but also on activity levels and sales skills.
  • All employees are offered full support and training within the guidelines of the company or divisional business plan. Sartorius believes that an investment in its staff is an investment in its business.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Ideal profile for the successful candidate is:
  • some sales experience with capital equipment from either pharmaceutical, food or chemical industry
  • well documented sales results from previous assignments
  • educational background that supports ability to cope with highly technical information.
  • advanced level in IT including:

  • the Microsoft office suite

  • Interfacing protocols and the concepts of networks. SQL, Profibus and PLC knowledge would be an advantage
  • excellent skills in English, oral and written
  • good business understanding and financial acumen
  • a high degree of physical fitness (handling of heavy equipment will occur).
  • prepared to travel occasionally

  • a competitive and result oriented self starter
  • excellent at building relationships at all levels
  • able to structure own ‘pipeline’ disciplined
  • conscientious and organized with regard to follow-up and reporting
  • a can do and solution oriented attitude

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The compensation package is competitive and according to experience, it involves a company car as well as bonus scheme and health insurance.
