Denmark has for many years made the urban planning in the biggest Danish cities suitable for bicycling. 39 percent of the population in the Danish capital Copenhagen commutes to work every day by bike. The vast amount of bicycles on Danish city roads clearly makes an impression on many different stakeholders in China, who wonders how it is possible.
Danish architect, Jan Gehl, explains in the evening show of "Dialogue" on the Chinese TV channel CCTV 9, how urban planning regarding bicycling is possible and why bicycling in our climate change era could be regarded as a Trojan horse for sustainability.
