In September 2006 Grundfos established an R&D organisation in China with the purpose of being the biggest development centre outside Denmark. Today we have around 70 employees in China R&D and we expect the R&D Director to grow the organisation in size, competencies and number of new products developed.

The R&D Director will report to the Head of our China Region and have a professional line towards our global R&D organisation. China R&D is an important partner in our global R&D set-up and the aim of the organisation is developing products for the Chinese market as well as acting as a regional competence centre for global technology and development projects and initiatives.

Your major challenges and tasks
The area of responsibility covers regional technology planning and - projects, development, engineering, and customer adaptation. You will be responsible for building up and maintaining an innovative, knowledge-based, and strong performing regional R&D organisation. We expect you to provide visibility and input to global decision making related to R&D activities.
Your main tasks are defined as: - Driving visionary thinking and innovation within China R&D in particular and within Grundfos in general
- Developing short- and long-term strategies based on input from stakeholders
- Aligning and deploying strategies across the organisation and supporting in the implementation
- Actively driving China business development initiatives cross functionally together with key colleagues from China Business Development (China BD), production, sales; e.g. strategic alliances, strategic sourcing, etc.
- Member of the Region China top management team: China Management Team (CMT) in setting the strategic direction, key policies, etc. for the long term development of the region.
- Participating in Global R&D management team and leading own management team
- Responsible for the cost and investment budget
- Input to prioritization of product and technology development projects
- Planning and driving road maps of technology and product development projects related to the region
- Ensuring well-functioning execution of technology and product development, engineering, and customer adaptations activities
- Recruiting and developing employees in China R&D (i.e. competence building, career planning)
- Ensuring that stakeholders have sufficient knowledge of the activities in China R&D and cooperate with local universities
- Carries out leadership role (has visions, inspires, coaches, facilitates, delegates) and ensures compliance of Grundfos values
Your background and personality
You are engineer with proven business experience in technology, development and engineering, and product portfolio management. You have minimum 10 years of working experience from an international organisation. It is a must that you have management experience from technology or development areas and have been dealing with strategic leadership.
