1. About morning tears
Morning tears is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization founded in China in 1998 to provide children of convicts with a safe home, food, clothing, education, medical as well specialized psychological/trauma care. Contact with their parent(s) in prison is facilitated whenever possible. This way these children, who initially lost everything, get their life back. In China morning tears also works in close cooperation with the Chinese government at all levels to advance childcare and the protection of (vulnerable) children in China by providing training and expertise. This work has a national impact. Morning tears has been the recipient of several awards including the National China Charity Award in 2010. Morning tears is currently registered in eight countries and active in Asia / Africa.
In China there are two morning tears offices (in Beijing and Shanghai). The Beijing office coordinates the different children projects and works with fundraising. The Shanghai office main focus is on fundraising and awareness raising.

2. Tasks
Morning tears is a relatively small organization and largely volunteer run. As a trainee you are full member of the morning tears team. The work is dynamic, requires flexibility and it is expected that you assume responsibility for the tasks assigned to you. The task for this internship include:

- Fundraising: assist in drafting proposals for grant applications, presentations, follow-up to donors, networking cross culture and cross country etc.
- Events: assist at events like bazaars, charity concerts, galas etc.
- Awareness raising: represent morning tears at events and functions etc.
- Administrative: coordinate volunteers, contact to sponsors, CSR-work.

The exact tasks are determined together with the internship supervisor.

3. Requirements
- Acquired bachelor degree or equivalent. Master students are preferred.
- Good command of verbal and written English. Mandarin and other languages are an asset.
- Reliable, flexible, motivated and constructive.
- Pro-active and self-starter but also a team player.
- Strong social and networking skills; good public speaking skills are an asset.
- Experience with Adobe design software and presentation material is preferred.
- Available for min. 6 months, preferably one year.

No requirements are set with respect to the nature of the academic degree. Personal attitude and the ability to communicate and operate effectively are considered more essential.

The trainee will receive a housing allowance of CNY 3.500 pr. month for the full time position.
Please note that the trainee is responsible for having a valid visa at all times. Costs related to obtaining and renewing the visa is to be paid by the trainee.
