The World Bank has recently ranked Copenhagen Capacity as the best regional investment promotion agency in the world in its "Global Investment Promotion Benchmarking 2009" report, in which the World Bank compares the marketing and services of 181 national and 32 regional investment promotion agencies.
Of the metropolises with which Copenhagen competes directly, London was the next highest placed regional investment promotion agency on the list, with “Think London” placed 10th.
The World Bank also ranks the best investment promotion agency in the world from amongst both regional and national agencies. Here Austria’s national agency took first place, closely followed by Copenhagen Capacity in second place and Invest in Sweden third.
Comments Copenhagen Capacity’s managing director Steen Donner: “We are extremely proud of this pat on the shoulder from the World Bank. Not only does it confirm that we have a strong business region to market internationally, but also that we are going about it in the proper way.”
The report assesses the various investment promotion agencies on the basis of a number of factors, including websites and the quality of the individual agency’s response to specific enquiries, including the provision of tailored market information and analyses.
Test of service level
Adds Steen Donner: “I recall that in 2008 we were approached by two potential business enterprises interested in setting up in the Copenhagen region, one a soft drinks company and the other a software development centre, to which our consultants responded with detailed analyses and advice. However, the projects did not come to anything, although this subsequently turned out to have a perfectly natural explanation. It was a test of our service level – carried out on behalf of the World Bank.”
