Danish-Chinese Business Forum is organising an open seminar in cooperation with CBS on 7 April 2011, titled Marketing and Branding on the Chinese Consumer Market.
The first presentation will be delivered by Mr. Franklin Yao, CEO of the Shanghai-based consulting and advisory company SmithStreetSolutions. Mr. Yao will focus on the development of the Chinese consumer market and share his knowledge on how Danish/European companies should analyse and approach it.
Furthermore, Mr. Fang Shiwei, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Li-Ning Group will share his experience from the Chinese consumer market regarding developing the local Chinese brand Li-Ning sportswear into a strong competitor to Nike and Adidas (please see attached profiles of the speakers).
The Chinese government is focusing on boosting domestic private consumption from 36 percent today to 42-45 percent by 2015 as a share of GDP. At the same time is the Chinese middleclass growing rapidly (defined as households with an annual income between RMB 60,000 and RMB 500,000), and is forecasted to reach 700 million people by 2020 accounting for 48 percent of the population. In 2009, China overtook the US to become the world's second largest consumer for luxury goods.
How can foreign companies access this growing consumer market? And what should foreign brands be aware of in relation to market segmentation, marketing and branding when entering the
Chinese consumer market? These and other questions will be addressed at this seminar by the Chinese experts.
